I've sold plenty of stuff that would otherwise go to the street or donate.
I helped a buddy of mine move into his house that he had bought from some old people. They left a dresser for him. This thing was ugly and looked straight out of the 70s. He wanted to put it to the street and I told him he could probably get at least 100$ for this piece and a few Mexicans to come move it for him.
I posted it on FB marketplace for $100 and a local antique shop owner messaged me and said I was getting scammed at that price. The owner did not want the piece but told me it was worth at least $5,000. We were blown away. She gave me a few facebook groups to join and I sold it in one of those to another shop owner from Florida. They rented a van and came and got it the very next day.... for $4,000.... It was some vintage well-known designer dresser.
