Mine was effectively an emergency. Before it became that, it was scheduled and I was trying to get it pre approved literally this week. When I called insurance, they said call the doctor. When I called the doctor they said call insurance.

I like our healthcare system and don’t mind paying but the method how things are billed is completely fricked.

That's why I canceled the one I had scheduled a year or so back. No one could tell me ahead of time how much it'd cost with my insurance. Even the doctor admitted that with "facility fees" and a possible "out of network anesthesiologist" it could be $5k+ even tho the colon doctor was in network
