The 2019 offensive line won the Joe Moore award as the nation's best offensive line, but they really weren't. Joe Burrow and CEH made that line look better than it actually was.

Same with the 2023 line. Jayden Daniels mad the offensive line look better than it was. They were much improved, but they will have to play better in 2024, when LSU will have to rely on a pocket passer and a more conventional run game.

I actually don't think this is the case. Daniels was good at evading pressure and was obviously otherworldly as a scrambler, but he definitely invited a fair bit of pressure by holding the ball. There's nothing inherently wrong with that style of play--it's also how burrow played up until the 2022 season--and it was unquestionably the optimal approach for daniels given our offensive roster and his scrambling ability, but it's still technically the case that he was "responsible" for a lot of the pressures. In pass protection, the OL this past season was very good bordering on elite. I'd be shocked if it wasn't elite next season.
