This might be the dumbest thing I've ever read on TD.
First, let’s clear something up. The “Louisiana Folks” you mentioned are injury attorneys. They don't just exploit our tort laws, they spend millions in lobbying to ensure the state legislature doesn’t pass tort law reform.
What baffles me is your comment, “they would just find another reason to raise rates”. If that were true, then why does Louisiana have one of the highest average insurance rates in the country? Drivers in Maine pay 1/3 of the amount Louisiana drivers pay for insurance. Why don’t insurance companies in Maine “just find another reason to raise rates”, as you put it? They don’t because the cost of doing business there is drastically cheaper than Louisiana. Insurance companies here expect to be sued over and over and work that cost into the insurance rates we all pay.
