Argentina- Blue Dollar Rate

Will be in Buenos Aires for 3 days then heading to Tucuman for 3 days of dove hunting. I've noticed that the blue dollar rate is far superior to the government rate. How safe would it to bring a couple grand for the trip in cash or would y'all suggest just going the ATM route with crime rising in Buenos Aires? Thanks

I don't feel like Buenos Aires is a particularly dangerous city. I was there in March 2020 (literally just before the pandemic shut everything down), and I didn't feel unsafe at all.
But do keep in mind that Visa and Mastercard (but not Amex) worked a deal for their transactions to happen at the blue rate. So, you can pay for hotels, meals, etc. with your credit card and get the blue rate.
But, if you want to change at the blue rate in BA, here's what to do:
If you walk down Florida Street (it's a big pedestrian boulevard), you'll hear a number of guys calling out "change" or "cambio". If you respond, the guy will ask you how much you want to change and then take you inside one of the newsstands there to actually count and change the money.

Did Buenos Aires in 22’. I regret that we didn’t bring American cash. The “us” vs “them” pricing was apparent back then and I’d imagine even more so now.

Never felt unsafe in BA. THere are some rough areas like district 31 but you have to really try to get lost to wind up there. Its behind a free way and railway yard.
That said $1000 is a fortune over there as a really good steak dinner with wine etc... was like $60/person so don't flash it around.
