Just put this in another thread, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is the hire.
He won't be Alabama's first choice. Hell, he may not be their 5th or 6th choice. But with college football trending to being, essentially, a two conference league, he likely sees the writing on the wall at FSU.
He recruits the same landscape as Alabama. He had a very talented team this year that if not for awful luck at the end may have played for a championship. He will, likely, never be as much "in demand" as he is now. And he probably feels he'd have a better chance to replicate this year's success at Alabama than he does at FSU as the financial divide between the Big 10/SEC and everyone else grows wider.
FSU has already made it clear they want out of the ACC. The reason is because they know the Big 10/SEC is leaving the rest of the conferences behind. The problem is there may not be a home for FSU. Knowing that, Norvell may say this is my shot a greatness...even though it is going to be a high pressure situation. Lanning (Big 10) Deborer (Big 10) and others don't really have the external pressures of being in a "weaker" (financially) confernece.
