I had an echo gas one for 15 years. Always started on the 2nd pull. I always put non-ethonal gas in it. Did not have a single problem.
Bought the highest cfm EGO one about 2 years ago and i've really liked it. I got the EGO multi head unit as well so i can weedeat, edge, and pole saw with it.
My EGO battery started giving me problems this past summer. Kept stop working saying it was overheating. Customer service with EGO was not helpful, and I haven't had an issue with the battery this fall/winter. I do store it outside, and it was hot as shite this summer, but that still seemed odd to me. I'll be irritated if it starts not working again in the summer.
I did buy a off brand battery on amazon when i first got the multihead unit about a year ago and it worked perfectly fine in the summer in the same exact conditions.
15 years with no issues whatsoever on the Echo. WHile i love that EGO, i seriously doubt that battery lasts even half of the 15 years, and i might have spent $10/yr on gas/oil for my blower and weedeater previously.
All in all, i'd still prefer the EGO, even if i only get 5 years out of the battery.
