It was very hard to find people who weren't Louisiana natives willing to live in Baton Rouge. I know it's just "a restaurant" and I'll get a bunch of other whataboutisms that is typical for Louisianans that cope about the state but it's 100% true. Ask anyone involved in the economic development process and they'll tell you the same thing.

Sure, but are you telling me a company based off of selling Louisiana food is better off in another state?

Atlanta also likely has a LOT higher cost of living. $150,000 salary goes a lot further in BR then it does in ATL, and you should be saving money in BR on some employees allowing you to pay MORE for your employees that you need the outside talent.

In other words, it seems like a poor model to move to ATL and pay the same. So if the suggestion is, no you have to pay more in ATL then hell maybe you should have payed more in BR to start?

Yes, it is. It's not that difficult to learn how to cook Cajun food and I'm sure they'll still have a presence here, just not the headquarters.
Training is usually the biggest expense for a business that is growing or relocating so a company can actually come out ahead in a high cost yet large highly educated area.

Louisiana has to realize, economic development isn't just about costs and taxes. It's also about the quality of life and education/workplace development.

Defunding education/workforce development, infrastructure, or law enforcement is almost just as bad as raising taxes in an economic development POV.

I doubt there’s much difference in the cost of living from Baton Rouge to Atlanta. Baton Rouge is a pretty expensive shite hole.

They’ll presumably move to Dunwoody. The city and state will subsidize the move. Most execs will buy in East Cobb, Roswell, and Alpharetta and use the public school system. It’s not insanely more expensive in the burbs, it’s just more than if you bought a house pre 2020 at a 3%.

Far better quality of life. Also, the airport matters.
