I saw on another board it was discussed possible incoming freshman impact player(s).
Does LSU have anyone that could have an impact this
coming season?

LSU softball will only go as far as the pitching takes them
They don't have that dominant pitcher that the great teams have until next season with the recruit that is coming in

As Torina waddles and does he best imitation of Cleopatra Caldwell-Fargas!!
She will continue her social Justice activism, I really lost respect for her lapse into mediocrity. Coaching softball requires more than a feigned stoicism and angry squint!!!

Seems like it’s always “wait til next year” with Torina and softball.
Well next year, with the way this program has been going, Texas and Oklahoma will come aboard and help push LSU softball even further down the SEC ladder.

So, no income freshman will see significant playing time?

I've been so locked in on the football team and portal and women's basketball I haven't checked in on softball posts in awhile.
I agree that ultimately the program will go as far as the pitching will take them, and I'm not super impressed with the arms on hand but if managed properly I suspect they will fare well this year. WCWS might not be in the 2024 season future, but I think they will compete and be relevant for sure. The pitching is the primary concern, but there are other questions.
No clue what the poster who posted "She will continue her social Justice activism, I really lost respect for her lapse into mediocrity" means but I find it a rather ignorant comment given the talent signed by Torina. Torina has a very strong class in the 2023 class (Daniels and Manning are intriguing), but no pitching help in that class. And the 2024 class is probably one of the strongest classes they've had in years, including at least one elite arm add in Jayden Heavener (Heavener and Jones should play right away in my opinion). Hoping Berzon keeps getting better and Kelly Lynch (transfer) pans out.
The question is even if there are freshmen impact players, will they play ahead of the senior heavy roster (all but I think, 2 positions returned as seniors). Sierra Daniels brings elite defense and potent offense and speed to the roster but will they remove an upperclassman for her to play? Tori Edwards is a powerful hitter and will likely get her shots at impacting the game at the plate. Manning is a local talent that I could see adding pop to the lineup but not sure what they'd do defensively. Bedell is a big powerful outfielder that could help as well and has some speed. Madyson Mckee is another athletic player that might get some chances. But I'd say Daniels has the best chance at playing time right away.

Remember Beth Torina starting Alea Johnson minimally only to toss her out to a bases loaded ULL team that’s top tier at hitting? No confidence in the player until she’s thrown to the wolves in the fricking playoffs
Then she transfers to Alabama because Beth Torina would prefer to start other nobodies for…I’m not sure. Is it nepotism? So glad Johnson is worthy of a consistent WCWS program but not quite good enough for LSU’s annual bed wetting in the regionals
My day goes on just fine regardless of softball success but amazing what Beth Torina has gotten away with. She needs to start fricking winning and win now.
She lost all respect holding our school over a barrel over an auburn offer and all she’s done is dogshit. She fricking sucks doing that to LSU after accomplishing franking nothing in years. She deserves shite and hopeful this is the end of her garbage if we don’t deliver. Top five salary and facilities and maybe top 20 results.

Beth has stalled out with the softball program no doubt. She never makes any changes. Dobson is not the guy but she still doesn’t see that.

Thanks for your assessment Alum which is appreciated. It's always nice to see a SoFtBall topic although I wish it was more positive. But I understand the frustration.
It would be nice if the incoming freshmen pictures and bio's (rather than tiger faces) were listed. This appears to be the only major sport where freshmen are not shown. It might also help build more attention and support to softball for our incoming tigers, and preseason enthusiasm.
We do have good talent with seasoned hitters/fielders returning despite our lack of pitching depth. Hopefully Berzon will be accompanied by Clopton and at least a one or two others to keep us in the chase. Geaux Girls!

Don’t care. Beth will just do average with them and smile a lot say how much she loves them.

LOL AND that wasn't a Freudian slip either. Kelly "Lynch" was the intended reference.

Great question. That comment was a head scratcher, even for a Beth hater.
Personally think she's done a magnificent job recruiting. A lot of those kids can flat out play and best in the country. Daniels (speed/defense), Edwards (power at the plate), Bedell (athleticism, speed and power), Manning (athlete) and Mckee (solid player with speed) are great pieces in that 23 class and one of the best classes in the country. The upcoming 2024 class has an all around stud who can do it all in Jones (elite speed, high average hitter, power, defensively solid, smart and one of the best in the country), Heavener (finally a top level pitcher who happens to be a lefty who is confident, deceptive with great movement and really good velo and command--she will be a quick study) and Harris (Heaveners teammate and an athletic outfielder who can hit for power and is speedy too). The future is bright for the pipeline and I trust that Coach Torina will capitalize on it. She's done it before. I just think we sometimes are a little unreasonable as fans with our expectations, including me sometimes. I say give Bet 2-3 more years and see how things pan out. Honestly, I think if this team gels well they will make some unexpected noise.
But to the original point: I hope some of the fresh new face talent are given a chance to show their stuff. I'd bet that Daniels will get opportunities for sure.

4life... I figured that you meant Kelly Lynch! I knew it wasn't Kelly Maxwell as she was wearing OU stuff when I saw her during the holidays & I've already booked hotel in Norman one weekend to see her play.

Looks like the SoFtBall web got a face lift with full team pictures and Bio's.
Season starts Feb 8 and looking forward to this years returning talent and experience, hopefully with improved pitching development and talent.

Looks like Tiger Park seats got a face-lift too. Gone are the moldy faded yellow seats and replaced with purple ones.

Beth is the new Pawl. Pawl was average for YEARS and got away with it. But at least he did win one ship early on to hang on to. Beth hasn’t sniffed a ship. The softball real fans Hang on to Beth like the pawl baws hung on to Pawl. Thinking if Pawl was fired it was a reflection on the baseball program. It’s not it a reflection on the coach. Same with softball. We have great facilities and every opportunity for the program to be a top 10 program. The coach is holding it back just like Pawl was holding baseball back. Now look at the baseball program. Wouldn’t you want that for the softball program??? Then FIRE BETH and get someone with fire in their belly to be a champion but just a good program.
