I might follow this thread and you guys can let me know how it goes.

It’s like a high school kid stepped out of their first drama class and just wrote something down on a piece of paper and they went with it. Who wrote this nonsense? The dialogue and acting is awful. The CGI. Even what they found at the end of the episode looked like straight to DVD props. All of it. Even Jodie Foster’s acting is terrible.

I seriously doubt I get past the first episode. Terrible.

I will say I’m all in on this season and will watch the whole thing

With that said, it has 100% on rotten tomatoes and critics have gone nuts over it it

After the first episode, it left a lot to be desired. I think the black chick is a horrible actor

Edit: just saw the audience score is 55%. Ouch

I will watch it. I have no expectation that it will live up to Season 1 or even Season 3 of True Detective, but it'll still probably be better than 95% of the other shite on TV right now.

If they were going to take someone else's work and re-brand it with the True Detective nameplate to tell a story of gritty female empowerment then they should have just used Mare of Eastown to do that.

That HBO series was actually well-written, well-directed and superbly acted by Kate W. and the rest. And it would have gotten a lot more attention and likely a better production budget if it had the True Detective fan following attached to it.

Maybe they figured that out and this was their attempt to hit a mulligan.
