There was a guy on Tarantella Road (near Folsom, LA) who kept them, years ago. It was probably around 1985 that I visited him.
He had several pet raccoons that seemed very tame. My recollection is that the tamest ones (like the one he took out of its cage and showed me) were the ones he'd bottle-fed as infants. I believe he also had some that he'd captured somehow, after adolescence, but he was more circumspect about showing those off to guests.
