So people with Medicare Medicaid and social security don't have access to food?

Did you read the article?

Are you serious with this shite?

Go tell the 1,400 people who died from starvation that they can wake up now.

First of all, do you actually believe that? And is it "access to food" that caused their health issues?

Here is a survey for you:

quote:

According to the latest government data, more than 99.8 percent of American homes own at least one refrigerator

And Id venture to guess the other point two tenths of one percent "have access" to one. ie they live in a dorm room and have to walk down the hall to the fridge.

Your article didn’t say they died from starvation. Dying from starvation in the US is exceedingly rare. So rare that it isn’t tracked as a statistic.

The most common reason for dying of starvation in the US is a person starving themselves. The second most common cause of starvation in the US is when someone is dependent upon someone else for food - usually infants or elderly - and the caretaker, in an act of criminal neglect, does not feed them adequately.

Your article says that 1400 people died from malnutrition.

quote:

It can result from not eating enough but also from poor eating habits that lead to nutritional deficiencies. The majority of deaths in California from malnutrition last year occurred in residents 85 and older.

The Covid shutdowns contributed greatly to this issue, per your article.
