I see your line of thinking, but the end zone IS different from the field of play - teams are rewarded with points for advancing the ball into it or penalized for getting tackled in it by giving points to the other team.
Ultimately we both agree the rule needs to stay as is.

Would someone entertain 1 point to the offense and followed by a kickoff like any other offensive score?
