Except the part where Jesus explicitly gave his apostles (the church's first bishops & priests) the ability to forgive sins

quote:
That simply means you are forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ as your savior, not through a priest.
Also the explanation of my verse that says no one goes to the father but through me, hence your faith in Christ is your salvation from sin.
That's not at all what that verse means. Read the entire chapter of John 14 without stopping. All Jesus is saying is that to know Jesus is to know God.
quote:
Again, no man has this authority. This is stated plainly in the bible.
John 20:23, like I mentioned previously.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” Everything that you are looking for can be found in him. All of your questions can be answered by him. Don't look to the world for the answers you seek. Turn to him while he may be found. Whatever it takes, turn to God while you still have an opportunity.

In John 20:23, Jesus tells His disciples, “If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." The very core of the gospel message is the truth that the way someone has their sins forgiven is by having faith in Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Savior.
So Jesus telling his first bishops that if they forgive someone of their sins then Jesus will too AND vice-versa, actually means if you have faith in Jesus then you will be saved?
That is probably the greatest example of eisegesis I have ever read on this board, and that is saying A LOT.

The "world" includes "man" and priest are "men". Doesn't get any clearer than than that.

The variances in competing Catholic bible versions come down to the translations. Many Catholic biblical scholars recommend the ESV as most accurately translated from the source manuscripts. Other competing versions try to put things into plain, colloquial, or modern translations that can accidentally water down or alter the original meaning.

Again this is an example of a Catholic-ism.

This is false. The original Bible includes the epistle of James and it’s a pretty big deal because it implicitly clarify’s “faith without works is dead”. Kinda kills the whole “faith alone” tenet. You can’t just say you believe, you have to live like it too.
Every Bible I’ve looked at includes the book of James, so I’m not sure which Bible you’re referring too.

Mass is very ritualistic.
Get the Ascension Press Bible in case the person wants to do the Bible in a Year program which is really awesome.

You’re on your way to Gnosticism.

Amen, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again, [amen,] I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father.
Matthew 18: 18-19

Or Calvinism, though I make no distinction between the two.

Are Catholic Bibles different
than regular Bibles?
Yes. The Catholics added additional books and text to the Bible.

Luke 19-10
So in his last words, Jesus was communicating that the work he came for was accomplished. The task of earning the salvation of the world was completed in his work on the cross. No more additions or adjustments were necessary – salvation was completed.
Meaning the rituals of the old Testament were done, as no longer did man have to make animal sacrifices as Jesus was the "last sacrifice" for man's sin. Again, not the blessings of a priest (imperfect man)

Luke 19:10 - Catholic Bible
The whole Last Supper is the Passover meal in which Jesus states ‘do this in memory of me’. He doesn’t say anything about getting rid of the rituals
