Yeah, it was Obama/Lerner weaponizing the IRS that shut down the Tea Party; that was essentially the first time that weaponization of a Government Institutional was blatantly used. The TP then move on to become MAGA, being more educated in the process.
Once weeds are allowed to grow and entangle themselves with the corn, there is no solution. To separate the weeds from the corn one damages the corn/harvest. Throw all those new immigrants in the with the economic weeds.
Even if Trump were to go in, it would take an extraordinary stroke of managerial genius and a massive 'Program' to finesse the new dynamics. And an iron hand (Authoritarian, when the Left gas lights the street) to make it happen.

They didn’t screw up, they were target, co-opted and destroyed by the GOP and their benefactors who were threatened by their agenda.
