Do any of y’all find as each Christmas season passes by that you start to embrace the family gatherings and realize how fast time flies by? I’m in my late 30’s have little ones but I find myself lately realizing how fast time goes by. As a young lad I would just go to family gatherings and take for granted. Now, as I get older I cherish the moments…. certain family members have passed on and things get to feel different. I’m in my feels but take this Christmas season and embrace it with your loved ones.

This is the least Christmas-ey Christmas I can remember. I felt more like it was the holidays when I was deployed.
I'm not sure that is relevant to your OP but that's what flowed from my fingers onto this keyboard.

the ghosts of christmas past is a very real thing that charles dickens beautifully named.
it's the one that hits the hardest because, unlike the future and present, you know the conclusion, and if we're being honest about life, the conclusion always comes to a tragic end.
if one is being true to himself, barring past tragedy or strife, the concept of the "ghost of christmas past" is a prime example of why very few people actually revel in change.
ray charles said it so perfectly in "the spirit of christmas" :
"why can't it remain?"
