Charli D’Amelio makes more money as a teenager doing 20 second dance videos (that a lot of attractive high school cheerleaders could mimic) than people who went to college for ten years and save lives. And more money per video than someone who runs into a burning buildings to save lives.
The world isn’t a fair place.
People don’t like NIL and the portal because they want players to love the school instead of money and opportunity. But at the end of the day, major college football players are some of the most talented people on the planet and they are the basis of a multibillion dollar industry. It was inevitable that they would start making bank at some point. And like the real world, some people are going to make more or less than they really should. Arch Manning is far from the first person to cash in on his last name.
One thing about sports, though. You have to be the real deal because every person pretty much has a fair opportunity to whip your arse and take your place. You don’t get all the advantages of having the last name Ford or Bush or Trump or Barrymore. Arch might get a little money now, but if he doesn’t develop into something the competition will eat him up.
