Honestly, some of you just take these calculations as gospel without any consideration of the specifics or the wild variations depending on the source. On3 thinks LSU has the 6th best class overall which is more than enough to compete. The industry composite average may have LSU just outside the Top 10 and in 7th in the new SEC, but what are the actual differences in the strengths of those classes? Florida, Oklahoma, and Auburn have 1 or 2 5-stars LSU does not currently have in their class but LSU has 17 4-stars or above to only 16 for Oklahoma and only 12 for Florida and Auburn. I know all 4-stars are not created equal, but is 2 more 5-stars really better than 7 more 4-stars? I don’t think there’s any reason to panic over arbitrary formulas when LSU has as many 4-star and above recruits as anyone except Georgia (21) and Texas (one more at 18). And that’s not even getting into the value in the number of recruits even when it comes to the 3-stars when at least some % of them are likely to be diamonds in the rough.
