I'll vote for the best option on the ballot in the primary, then do so again in the general. I didn't want Obama to win, I didn't want Trump to lose. Life goes on.

Yes.
Yes it is.
I can only theorize that it happens because they lack the imagination to consider that someone else might react differently than they would.
I also think it's why they love Trump so much. Because they would act like him if they could.
