With Naji finding a 3 ball this year, Jose getting more efficient from 3, the pickups of Hawk and Ryan, and JV shooting well from 3…

Trey: 40% on 7 attempts per game
Naji: 43% on 3 attempts
Jose: 41% on 3 attempts
CJ: 39% on 7 attempts
JV: 38% on 2 attempts
Herb: 34% on 3 attempts
Hawk: 36% on 6 attempts
Ryan: 47% on 5 attempts

BI hasn’t shot well yet but his shot is coming back, and I would expect him to be mid to high 30% from 3 when it’s all said and done

The Pelicans have some really really good shooting this year, and we’re finally in the last few games starting to get the attempts up to reflect it

This is the Zion blueprint. It’s what we have all said we needed around Zion for 5 years. Now is the time

Pretty much a league average team on 3s.

We won’t be though

We’re 27th in 3pt attempts right now, and we will be much higher than that by the end

We were lacking our high volume shooters for so long that we have a lot of catching up to do, but this team will be a much above average 3pt shooting team by year’s end.

Not to mention BI is shooting 30% on 3s and that just won’t continue, and he will be probably our 3rd highest attempt guy on average (not including Hawk)

Book it

seems like teams should just allow zion to takeover the paint and defend the perimeter on the pels imo. zion doesn't have the stamina regardless for it to last all game. part of why val is so important on this team and BI's middie to be on point.

Speaking of Ryan, can someone remind me how long he's now out for w/ that surgery?

I wish teams were dumb enough to think that. If he did not draw double and triple teams on drives, he would use a lot less energy and take less of a beating.

I agree they will likely move up a bit. But currently 18th with a contribution from Matt Ryan, who is now hurt and likely won't get minutes when he returns.

Nah I think he probably will. The reason Hawk isn’t getting minutes now is because his defense has been so bad. I don’t think Matt is like a + defender or anything, but he’s serviceable and his on/off numbers were really fricking good

Who is he getting minutes over?

Not really “over” but we can always use situational shooting. He probably won’t be in any lineups with Dyson or Jose but he definitely could be in some CJ lineups.

If he plays how he was playing before, he will find minutes. There is 0 doubt in my mind ab that

I don’t see how Matt gets minutes if we stay healthy (apart from blowout minutes). He’s very much a below average defender and if that’s why Hawk isn’t playing, how does Ryan find minutes. There’s a reason he wasn’t on a team two months ago.

It's almost as though Zion's gravity opens up the spacing for our guys to get wide-open shots!

But seriously, the improvement from Jose and Naji was needed.

The stats show that we were much better with Matt on the floor than Hawk

In his interview after the spurs game CJ said the coaches are preaching that they need to get 40 3’s up per night according to the analytics.

3>2. We have Zions paint dominance and BI middy but we will continue to be average without consistent 3pt shooting

This is just silly. All Matt’s minutes came when CJ and Trey were out (as well as a lot of games where Jose and Naji were out as well). Those minutes are now accounted for. There are only 240 per game to get divided up. It’s not at all a dig at Matt, I just don’t see how he gets minutes. And a rookie with Hawk’s athleticism can get better at defense, do you really think Matt can?
