Problem hitting off mat

Anyone else have problems hitting off mat?
I’m color blind and the green mats have very little color variation in them. As such it completely screws up my depth perception. Every time I am with a coach or someone that has me hitting off a mat I look like a 30 index.
It sucks because winter is the best time to work on a sim but I have to be on real grass.
Anyone know of a quality mat with color variations in it?

So how do you hit on a green course?

Real grass has lots of color variations in it. It provides depth. It’s not that I can’t see “green” but rather graduations of shades within a spectrum. Mats are monochrome and have no depth

How do you know they're green? Every mat I've ever hit off of is red

Nah. I'm a mat all-American.

It doesn't really work that way

You could probably get a few different shades of green spray paint and give the mat some spritzes with each to break up the monotone.

That is actually a damn good idea

Heck, I'm even an honorable mention on matts at my local club

Have you heard of fiberbuilt grass series. It's basically a scrub brush turned upside down, also allows you to hit down and through. I'd imagine when you look down on the bristles the color varies, and the bristles themselves have depth.
First link to their website, and second link to YouTube clip of how the product works.
They can be expensive though, worth it though.

I've literally never seen red mats. Weird.

You’re probably color blind.

only issue I ever have is hitting a driver off the stupid rubber tee on most mats

Can you drop a little handful of sand or dirt on the mat to give it some color variance?
I'm not a fan of mats at all.
That green plastic melts to the bottom of your irons too hitting off mats.

My 13 year old daughter is a junior golfer and I try to keep her off mats as much as possible. We have a hitting net that I move around my Bermuda grass backyard lawn. It is about 1/2 acre of Bermuda back there so I don’t really care about the divets. Just fill them with sand like on a course. I also have an LED work light on a 6 ft tripod stand for when she wants to practice after dark.
