Following a scathing insider report of the turmoil within the campaign and SuperPAC for presidential candidate Ron DeSantis, chief strategist Jeff Roe resigns.

It is stunning to contemplate the starting point of $269,000,000.00 [and more since] has essentially done nothing except destroy the public image and brand of Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis. No presidential campaign has ever amassed such a proactive funding war chest and blown it to smithereens before the first votes have even taken place.

Never Back Down Super PAC Chief Strategist, Jeff Roe, delivered the following statement via Twitter:

The Washington Post presented a scathing report [SEE HERE] outlining details provided by 22 people in the DeSantis campaign and Super PAC. Within hours of that report being posted, Jeff Roe quit.

quote:

The DeSantis loyalists promise to keep swinging for the fences. However, everything around their effort was/is built upon fraud, manipulation, deceit and astroturf. This outcome should not come as a surprise to those who have followed along.

Almost everyone in the operation and in the promotion thereof, are retreads from the failed Ted Cruz campaign of 2016. Someone in professional GOPe circles had the idea to enmesh the Never Trump group with the Bush team and try to build a brand image for Ron DeSantis that could co-opt the MAGA base.

It was a stupid strategy from the outset, made even worse by their tone-deaf missing of reality. Tens-of-millions of core base voters have their eyes wide open now. They are not going to destroy the movement, and the collapse of Ron DeSantis just shows how strategically smart the base voter has become.

At a certain point, the pretending hits the sunlight of reality.

Holy shite. Ron has burned that much and is still struggling for 3rd place? That has to be one for the history books of how not to run a campaign.

Roe was holding DeSantis back. Hurt his image.

The real DeSantis needs to be released as a Hail mary attempt to save this campaign. Too little too late.

This post is not even that mean. It's just the reality of the current situation.

I'm actually disappointed that Ron just didn't hunker down and be governor of Florida through 2024 and make a run in 2028.

How long before Ron starts sucking up to Trump, saying he made a mistake, wish he could turn back the clock, grown from the experience and learned that the people need someone to be their voice, and the people have chosen Donald Trump. What he needs to do is roll back, focus on doing what he can to insure that Donald Trump is reelected.

It's coming. Has been for months. He's just about out of denial, into bargaining, and soon... acceptance.

They wasted money buying fetid, low IQ astroturfers like Bill Mitchell and many others. How many votes did Bill earn for his pay? If anything, he drove potential voters away. muh 'insurrection'

This is an excellent lesson learned about pollical campaign spending on social media especially on the right. You can't astroturf it. It has to be organic. First the social media influencers have to like the candidate before he declares his candidacy. Second, don't pay social media influencers especially early. Allow them to prove their bone fides in terms of support then team up with them later only if it makes sense.

Bro Trump has a million strong bot army. Don’t kid yourself. People like Alex Brusebitch was praising DeSantis over Trump as late as November 2022.

They dumped millions into astroturfing online. The indictments helped Trump more than any money they could’ve spent on campaigning

Beating a dead horse because that horse was brought out to pasture a couple months ago when Haley started biting his heels.

What is this part referring to though:

Most people have no idea who Alex was before this primary and is not that much of an influencer. I don't know if Alex is paid by the Trump campaign or not but I take your word for it.

What's crazy is that he decided to waste that money on a fight instead of the easier route in '28. I'd say it was admirable, but it really was just stupid.

He came off of building a war chest during his easy Gvnr run, and won't have that in 28.

He literally put himself behind the 8ball on purpose. Best of luck to him. I'm guessing a Senate run is a solid consolation prize, if a win there is even a given.

A boat load. And it’s a shame because he is simply a target of lawfare. It is noted that yet another Ron fan is coming out in support of that lawfare. You’re a fascist just like the dems. Thanks for raising your hand and letting us all know.
