Burton Cummings has cranked up the volume in his ongoing and long-standing dispute with some former bandmates over the licensing of songs made famous by the Guess Who. Cummings, the former frontman of the legendary rock band originally formed in Winnipeg in 1965, spoke at length about the feud with the current incarnation of the Guess Who, or as he calls it, "the fake band," in a Thursday interview with CBC Manitoba's Up To Speed. "I want people to realize that Randy Bachman, Kurt Winter, Bill Wallace, all the people that wrote the songs … we're the ones that made the records. I don't want the history of the band to be tied up with these fakes," he told host Faith Fundal. "The cover band has used my songs and Randy's songs over the years to draw people to their fake shows. It's not the band on the records that is showing up to the gigs and this is what we're going to stop." Cummings recently terminated agreements with performing-rights organizations for every Guess Who song he wrote and published, which means fans of hits like American Woman or These Eyes can't hear them played live in concert unless he allows it to happen.

Lynyrd Skynyrd if you look at their orginal work is one of the greatest bands of alltime and then they became one of the best cover bands of all time

Around that same time "The Byrds" played Meridian MS. I think this was the touring group operated by drummer Michael Clarke, which the other original members sued over.
And yes, it did occur to me that Clarke's Byrds might have played Meridian bc that was CE's hometown. But I have no way of knowing for sure.
Parsons allegedly campaigned to dump CE from tFBB bc he was "white trash". After all, Gram was a Hahvahd man...

Fripp is the only constant. Robert Fripp is King Crimson. No one else records or tours under that name unless Fripp is leading the band.

Chicago is pretty much a different band than the 70s except for a horn player or two.
Yep, the band started around 1968 so you have an idea how old the original members are. I know 2 or 3 original members retired. I heard that Robert Lamm said that he does not have the energy anymore.

Wilco is down to only two original members... Tweedy and Stirratt. I think this is primarily because Tweedy didn't know what to do after Jay broke up Uncle Tupelo, so he just recruited all the touring members to create Wilco. Over the next decade he rounded out his full vision of the band landing on the current group...
