No real chance for Atkins to make an impact in this one

The scheme isnt helping him, but he looks really tentative. He is also overmatched as lineman his size are getting into him and locking him up with ease. He looks passive and doesnt persue well. Desoto is awesome, but an SEC quality linebacker should at least be able to make some noise.

I freely admit this is the first full game I have watched the kid play, and really hope this is not representative of his ability.

Might be tentative due to his d-line getting killed by Desotos o-line. If he can't read the gaps and such then he can't shoot them or scrape to them as easily as he mightve been able to in past games. Plenty of factors in play here. Desoto just outmatches them in pretty much every way, makes it really hard to play loose and realistically it might be hard to immediately play up to Desotos speed and aggressiveness if every other team you've played against did not possess that level of speed and talent. Just my 2 cents though as I could be completely wrong

Watched him several times against teams that didn’t overwhelm his d line he jumps off the screen and makes plays everywhere from the run, pass rushing, and coverage. He’s nominated for Mr. Texas football as a linebacker
