I don’t believe in the collar. I trained mine to the whistle. Used the “Wildrose Way”. Just remember to master every single step
Of the process before moving on, slow is fast and fast is slow.
Also, one thing you may want to try is alternating where you train. It can be a pain especially if you are trying to get it done after work with limited day light, but dogs are very place (not the place you are talking about) oriented. Labs especially can get bored retrieving in same area over and over. At minimum, try and change their perspective. Good luck! Nothing more rewarding
