Correct!! And that’s what I was attempting to do is reinforce “place” and send him to the stand. He was avoiding the stand at all cost once I nicked him and said place for some reason his is associating the place stand with the shocking and he doesn’t like it. But I shock him until he (eventually if at all) gets up there and I stop it. Same way I do him when I say “here” and he does just fine with that part. he’s never once been happy about doing that drill since we started so I know that’s part of the problem but at the same time there’s going to be things he doesn’t like but im not asking him to do them im telling him. And I know dogs will see how much they can get out of doing the things they don’t want to do and I feel if I quit now he will feel as if he won (which he did) it will only get worse later on during our training

When you say he avoided the place then you nicked him you are not reinforcing your are attempting to punish for what you see as a refusal. You then double down on the collar and give a continuous shock until he sometimes goes to the place you want and sometimes he doesn’t go. You are opposite in your thinking of what collar conditioning is. I am not watching your dog obviously but what you describe is confusion on your dog’s part. Introducing collar pressure when a dog is confused is a recipe for disaster
