Look at the responsibilities and experience requirements of the CEO.

Nurses are fairly easily replaced, CEOs not so much.

Look at the responsibilities of an ER nurse or even an ER doctor.

They keep you alive when you roll in there. They are paid a small fraction of what that CEO is paid. If the CEO is paid 6,000,000 a year, that can staff roughly 86 nurses at $70,000 a year. You think that CEO is worth that kind of money? The ER doc makes about $200,000 a year.

Maybe you should ask for the CEO to treat you when you roll into the ER with a gunshot wound to the chest. Afterall, he's got skill and irreplaceable so he certainly has to know what to do to save you...

CEOs are a lot like communist dictators. They want everyone to work more for less while paying themselves salaries that are far out of line with the average worker under them. They are also largely responsible for why a person can work for a company for an entire lifetime while having no retirement or pension after 30 years of service and dedication. Yes, dictators are often hard to find so lets pay them unrealistic numbers.

The CEO has responsibility of every nurse, and ever doctor working in that hospital.

My wife can save your life but she can't make business decisions.

Lol.

A full time ER doc in a busy tertiary care hospital makes 500k at least.
