the south fl game still irks me. people use it as the measuring stick for so called team milroe. buchner was in fact terrible, no doubt. however, simpson did not get a fair shake, the team made sure of that. simpson was getting hit way more quickly than he should have been. plus, its the first time i can recall a play where the rb literally stepped out of the way of a rusher to let the qb get hit.

but then i know team chemistry is yuge in sports. the team decided they were going to ride or die with milroe, it worked out. Roll Tide

Or maybe our pass blocking just absolutely sucked at the beginning of the season? The team was not sandbagging to make sure Jalen was the starter. If that was the case Ty would not still be in Tuscaloosa. No QB would stay on a team that deliberately sabotaged his chance to be the starter.

Simpson came out of camp third on the depth chart. He's fortunate he got to play in a meaningful game at all.

This narrative that the team tanked for Milroe is totally baseless. The fact is we were horrid on the OL early in the year, and in that game not only was Booker out, but Dalcourt was still playing instead of Roberts. Proctor was still totally overwhelemed. USF was bringing 5-6 guys every pass play and our QBs and OL were not equipped to handle it. The team just played bad, they weren't protesting Milroe not being in there. GTFO with that ridiculous narrative. Nobody stepped out of the way to let Simpson get hit.
