If you shoot birds the dog bumps, you are teaching the dog that it’s OK to bump birds. Then you will never have a dog that holds its points. Rule of thumb is to never shoot bumped birds over a young dog. Once dog is older and steady on points, it’s OK to shoot a bumped bird if the dog makes an occasional mistake.

Yep, and I never do this during training or here over woodcock etc. However, I’m not driving 14 hours to not shoot a flying bird I will just do my best men in black to him when we get back home
