Anyone ever eat there? Its in the convent, sorento area. If you are going into sorento on the sunshine bridge, you make a right and then a left on river road, its about 1.5 miles down and its an old gas station type place but it has some great food and the waitresses were kinda cute.

Great place.

Mis-spent too much time there when I was in law school. Cheap beer - good atmosphere.

It has a reputation that brought me to drive from Metairie once or twice a year. Been in BR for over 20 years and it is still one of my favorites. It is more than just fried seafood, the gumbos, bisques and etouffes are wonderful.

I can't believe we almost traded this treasure for a steel mill.

been eating there since 1966 . superb place, certain ambiance and great fried foods as welll. just don't venture far off of the fried and gumbo/soup/bisque list. they do what they do and do it tremendously. a veritable museum frozen in time.

I've been going since I was a child (many years). The fried shrimp has always been my favorite. I went just a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night and surprisingly the place was half empty. It used to be packed on weekend nights years ago. I love the atmosphere and the fish bowls but the one thing this palce has absolutely got to make a top priority is clean the damn bathrooms up. That is the nastiest bathrooms I have ever been in in a restuarant. Its worse than a freakin BREC park bathroom. Clean it up or my days of Hymels dining are over. Since the old man Hymel has retired and the son is running the place he is letting it go to shite. What a shame.

Oh and by the way, another steel company is looking at the site. The Hymel family is eager to make that fortune by selling that land I think. They sure as hell ain't worried about running a clean restaurant.

Yeah you are right it is hard to beat a dozen fried jumbos (even at 21.95)but my gosh you can smell the bathroom just walking by, I have herd they have a problem with the sewer, if so fix it! I also agree with other posters stay with the basics, i have had a steak, crabmeat augratin and a few other items that were not so good
