We are heading down to Indian Rocks Beach for spring break with the family. Any thoughts or pros/cons to this area?
We have a small bungalow rented right off the beach for a week

My in-laws have a timeshare in the Redington Beach area just south of Indian Rocks, I've been going with them for 15+ years now. Never been during spring break, only been in June. And we mostly do things at John's Pass for shopping, parasailing, jetskis, etc. Our kids love Candy Kitchen, it's been the highlight for them for years. Salt Rock Grill is near where you're going, great food but can get pricey. Definitely plenty to do around there.
Not sure on cons, weekends seem to be the worst in the summers for beach tourists but it's like that anywhere. We used to go to Clearwater at least once while we are there but stopped a few years ago because it gets so busy. Traffic can get weird in the areas where there are only 2 lanes, but again that might be the summer.

Traffic will be a clusterfrick.
Pinellas County prohibits booze on their beaches (or maybe that was Clearwater Beach specifically) unless you buy from a beachfront vendor (bar/hotel).
It's a pretty beach, but you'd have to drag me back there to spend any time.
Also...if you're not familiar with the west coast of FL, practice your stingray shuffle in the water.

Been there twice. We did what you did, small place off the beach. Very uncrowded when we went (both times were in summer). I enjoyed it as it was peaceful, clean, and we drove to St Pete for dinner one night. 2017 and 2019 though. I understand post covid may have changed things.

We went in Dec 2021.
I liked it, personally. It’s relatively quiet, but close enough to St. Pete and Tampa to not be a big deal to drive in, and then Clearwater Beach is like 15 minutes up the road for more typical busy beach town vibes.
So on days that we didn’t go to the beach, we made a couple day trips back to Tampa, and went to Clearwater one day. But, it was nice to come back to the quietness of IRB for the night.
I would recommend eating in if that’s doable and you’re a good cook. I don’t remember any food that was remarkable. The top restaurants on Yelp are good, but just nothing that I remember jumping off the page. I’m the kind of guy that remember meals from other trips we’ve done.

you did well. I live in Clearwater and my parents live full time in Indian Rocks Beach (IRB). I'm down there most weekends.
If you are beach side of gulf blvd you can fall out of your rental and hit the beach. If you are on the neighborhood side, quick walk or better draw straws and have a person drop you off and they walk.
Beach is likely best in Pinellas county. Low density, no high-rises (well, one 5 story building) and mostly single family homes and condos
Not really a bad place to eat on beach side, but some better than others.
Let me know if you want some specific ideas and advice and roughly where you staying in-town.
