Best way to hang spiraling garland on columns?

Haven't done it yet at my house, wife wants to do it "next year" for the last 5 years. She just never gets around to buying what she needs.

But could you do the eyebolt above the fascia, keep a tight wrap around, and do something similar at the bottom? Then go back and use some type of painters tape strategically throughout the back side of the column? This has always been my plan to attach, just waiting for the wife to drop it on me last minute one year.

I would just install some discrete small non metal white hooks every few feet and connect the garland to the hooks as needed.

I have 1 nail on the backside top of the column. Zip tie the top to the nail and wrap the column. If you wrap it tight enough the friction keeps it from slipping. At the bottom double the last turn. Sometimes I zip tie the the end to the previous turn if it moves.

I do the same except I don’t use zip ties. I just wrap the garland wire around the nail. Done it for years without the garland slipping but I have stained cedar columns.
