Now, more than ever, we are likely to immediately dismiss someone by one position that they hold, or because of who they associate with, or because of who they are often associated with according to others, or worse still, over a misunderstanding of what they said.

You see it in this thread with the gentlemen who was immediately upset with me for linking in article that mentioned Rod Dreher in a positive light in the first sentence. Well, If he had given it another five minutes then he would have realized that the article is anti Dreher and that I in this thread am anti Dreher.

To go further with the same example, the gentlemen immediately dismissed Dreher due to the suspicion that he is gay, as if that is the only thing worth knowing about him and is enough to judge all of his work (as if he can have no good ideas). For what it's worth, I'm not a fan of Dreher's ideas, but it has nothing to do with the suspicion that he might be gay.

Trump, in large, caused this type of impatience because he embodies impatience and thoughtlessness.
