Scott Weiland is easily a Top 10 rock star of all time. The man epitomized the life style and was of the last true legends of his era.

Love you, Scott, you magnificent bastard you!

Who of the following are you throwing out to make room for him?

Keith Richards
Jim Morrison
Robert Plant
Freddie Mercury
David Bowie
Mick Jagger
David Lee Roth
Eddie Van Halen
Steven Tyler
Elvis Presley

And even if you throw one of those out he is still standing in line behind Jimi Hendrix, Keith Moon, Rod Stewart, Jimmy Page, and Elton John.

Hall of Famer for sure, but top 10? Not even close.

Hell, he may not even be top 5 in the 80s/90s timeframe with like of Axl, Hetfield, Cobaine, Cornell, Keidas, Staley, etc...

Interstate Love Song is one of my top favorite STP songs.

Rest in peace, Scottie. You are one of the greats.

Have to agree here. After growing up an ‘80s hair metal guy, I resisted the whole grunge/alternative movement. I was vaguely familiar with some of that era since my kids sometimes had it on the radio, but I paid no attention to those bands.
But back around 2013 I saw STP with Weiland at the Hard Rock in Biloxi. I was going to a lot of concerts there back then, and when STP came around I had to google what they song. It was like a “oh, that was one of their songs?” type thing. Decided to take the wife since I recognized a few of their songs.
One of the few non-metal shows I’ve ever been to, but still one of my favorite shows ever. The place was packed and rocking. Like literally you could feel the floor moving the crowd was so into it. Everyone in the crowd singing along with every song. Weiland was just electric. He just had “it”. When I got home I went through their catalog and made a greatest hits playlist.
When it comes to rock front men…I’ve seen Freddie with Queen in 1978 and peak David Lee Roth with VH in the ‘80s. Weiland was in their company. Just the epitome of a rock star. Recently read Weiland’s autobiography - just a tragic story.
Over the subsequent years I’ve grown to appreciate the alternative genre a bit more, and for me STP is by far the best band of that era…just a great body of work.
