Your reasoning is that other sports leagues do it?

Who cares what other sports leagues do? They all have wildly different rules regarding contracts from each other anyway so it’s not like your solution even brings cfb in line with them.

What’s wrong with private individuals/businesses footing the bill?

I’m good on my state not spending my tax dollars to pay some kid to play football at a school I don’t care about. Let the local car dealer handle that if he is so inclined.

Your state isn't footing the bill for the massive coaching contracts, athletic foundations are. Why do you think you'd be footing the bill for player salaries?
