That's what people ARE doing, but you are calling them soft for it.

it's funny how everyone assumes I have not been through these things

No, people are rightfully calling you out for being an arse hole. People deal with their issues as best they can to overcome them.

If your approach worked for you, great. Some people can't address it as simply as you claim you do.

This is really important. What works for one person won’t work for another. Heck, what works for one person in one situation might not work AT ALL the next time. Mental health is such a weird and dynamic thing.

I have been struggling A LOT lately simply because I spent years developing all of these different techniques and coping mechanisms through therapy and trial and error, and a lot of them simply are not working anymore. I keep throwing techniques and strategies at the wall and nothing that worked 2 years ago is working at all right now. I’ll probably be going back to therapy soon if only for this reason.

Nothing like being sane enough to not be locked up and have to work a real job, but too crazy to be capable of doing anything well enough or consistently enough to keep living wage work in this insane economy where food has tripled in price and most bills doubled while pay has been flat the last 3 years.

People talk about things now because talk therapy is statistically the most effective mental health treatment that doesn’t involve drugs. Exercise, sunlight, mindfulness, fostering closer relationships with friends and family, religion, sobriety, getting the right amount of sleep, etc are all recommended because they have the highest probability to work, or at least improve the situation, but nothing is bulletproof.
