Had a guy come work on mine a few years ago. He said he had been doing appliance repair for about 30 years. He pointed to a metal shield inside the microwave and described how it went from a sturdy piece of steel that was welded in, to thinner metal, then thin, cheap metal with 4 screws, then 2 screws, etc., until now it is damn near a piece of foil pie plate material that is sitting there unattached and ready to rattle its arse off if slightly out of place.
