That did happen but I think Amazon put a stop to it. The rest I agree with.

It's still happening according to the forums. One seller last week said he had someone's actual garbage returned to him instead of the item.

If you sell through Amazon, expect 3 to 5% of your items to come back as damaged and unsellable.
This includes the occasional similar-looking, cheap used items that fraudsters send back in your packaging.
That's one reason why Amazon favors sellers of cheap, imported garbage from China whose product cost is a tiny percentage of the sales price.
If you're selling quality goods with lower margins you're quickly squeezed out.
