you're getting downvoted, but you're absolutely correct.

10 wins used to be a big deal, but that was back when the regular season was 11 games and there were only a dozen or so bowls.

Now, with 12 games regular season and 40+ bowls, it's 13 games, with a few cupcakes included on the schedule.

With 3 cupcakes this year, 10 wins would mean we went 7-3 against real competition. Sorry, but that's not good, not for an elite football power like LSU.

So 10-3 means little to me, since the standard at LSU should be being in the mix for both the SEC and national championships.

ETA:

All that to be said, it doesn't mean the whole season is a failure. I never said that. I just said I can't stand chirping about how awesome it is to win 10 games when you include the bowl game.

When was the last time LSU played an 11-game regular season? (Hint: It was 2016)

I guess 12 regular season games became the new normal around 2006, though. So, a winning season with a bowl, but no SECCG, was a 13-game season.

But this mythical 10-2 you guys imply (a 9-win team back in the day went to a bowl except 1969) almost never happened at LSU.

LSU never won 10 games in a season before 1959 (except 1908, which was 10-0) and that was 11-0. LSU wouldn't win 10 games in a season, again, until 1987 (Archer, 10-1-1).

The other mythical "10-win" that otherwise qualifies for you cats is Dinardo's 1996 (which needed a Peach Bowl win to get to 10) 10-2. Saban registered a 10-3, as did O and Miles did it a bunch of times.

Mac never won 10 games. Dietzel only did it once. Saban had a 13-1 and a 10-3 out of 5 seasons. Miles averaged 10+ wins until the wheels fell off.

Most teams play 2/3 cupcakes, why isn’t EVERYONE getting to 10 wins?

Oh that’s right, because it’s hard to do and should be applauded when it happens. But not on tigerdroppings

Like I said, a healthy portion of our fanbase is entitled and spoiled, and don’t realize how good we have it. frick, for awhile, I couldn’t remember the last time we got to November and weren’t considered contenders for that year.

We have it better than 95% of CFB fans yet all we ever do is bitch, whine, and want to fire everybody at the first sign of trouble
