he will not play qb...unless lsu became a true spread team like w.. virginia.....other than that he will be a reggie bush type kid who will play slot/rb and reciever.......i.e. harvin at florida...

early doucet was one of the top rated qb's in high school...sheppard is a carbon copy of doucet...doucet played reciever....just like sheppard will

Shepard is not close to Doucet at all. He's not built to play receiver. LSU would really blow it not to play him at QB. We'll just have to wait and see. I would just hate to waste even more talent sitting people on the bench.

not only can he do everything, but he is a true LEADER. THE ENTIRE TEAM FEEDS OFF OF HIM.

This leadership argument is a good one. I think I might be changing my mind here. I just don't think JJ will be that easy to beat out, because it SEEMS like....seems like....JJ is the better passer (and he can also run but not like RS). I think it'll be interesting. We'll probably see them both next year.

It's just all a big oxymoron. The only position we have a dyer need to fill is QB. We have the BEST QB prospect in the nation coming in and so many people are writing him off. Grant it he has not proven himself on a college field, but before we throw him under the bus or call him and average wide receiver lets give hope that maybe we have the pressing need at QB filled.

Crowton's offense is based on a mobile QB.

Crowton runs the most predictable offense in the game. We need a multi back system with misdirection. It worked pretty well for Florida this year and we have twice the talent at running back and wide out as Florida. We still need a Tebow, but a mobile QB would fit that system perfectly especially if he could throw the ball too. Russel Shepard anybody??

a lot of yall are forgeting that he has been going to the steve clarkson camp(which is probably the best QB camp in the nation)for a while now. Shep will come in and surprise a lot of people with his passing skills.

FWIW he didnt go to texas because they wanted him to play WR. LSU recruited him as a QB and that is what he will be.
