Too late to aerate and add compost to lawn

Meant to do this earlier in the fall. Did I wait too long if the grass is about to go dormant anyway? I’m in central Texas.

Yes, it is too late for warm season lawns.

For warm season grass probably too late to core aerate
Might be able to liquid aerate/dethact
Don’t add sand or compost to a dormant lawn. Unless it’s just a bare spot. Try using a soil amendment with bio char instead during this time of year until the lawn is actively growing

It iss not ideal, but I think any aeration is better than not doing it at all. I would have been more hesitant to do it when the drought was happening and it was 100 degrees.
