Interesting TE stat from Vintage LSU Football

Can’t confirm but this guy is pretty thorough
In 42 years we’ve only had 1 game where a TE had over 100 yards? That’s pretty crazy.

Since 1981 there has been 1 game where an LSU TE had 100+ yds. Malcolm Scott gained 112 yds against Florida State in 1981.

I bet that changes during the BK era. Not this year because Malik and BTJ are too good but with Taylor, Pimpton, and Trey Green coming, I bet we will see 100 yard games in the near future.

Also an indication that we've had good dependable receivers/ duos. Ever since 2000 we've been WRU.
There's also the additional reason of piss poor qb play during some years of Les' tenure in spite of all the TEs he recruited.

Generally you need either a lot of catches or a lot of yards after catch to hit 100 yards and we don’t pass enough to feed a TE 10 receptions and we generally have had balanced TE who are not burning guys in the open field.

I went back and checked Thad Moss from the Semi Final game against OU and he had 99 yds on 4 Catches. They couldn't have given him 1 more yd? LMFAO. That was the only one I thought of where we might've had 100 yds so I would wager that stat is accurate.

That’s bonkers. Like the stats of LSU going like 40 years without returning a kickoff for a TD at home until baby GOAT Trey Palmer snapped the streak.

Surprised Thad Moss never did.
Especially in that Peach Bowl

Arik Gilbert got 97 yards one game his freshman year
LSU has never really had a #1 TE. I would say most teams in the spread offense era for college don’t utilize TEs that much.

I can remember 50 years ago at LSU games old people screaming "throw it to the TE, he's always open".

If Mason doesn't d it, i believe Trey'dez Green will be the one to do it. and do it consistently.

Malcom Scott as a damn great TE

It says much about the type offense we ran, up until recently. The TE for was blocking or a gimmick in the passing game.

Thaddeus Moss had 99 against Oklahoma, he was so close.
