I don’t know that this is the appropriate place for a grammar lesson, but the word is literally used too often, and mostly wrong. For that literal reason, I try to avoid it altogether.

You used it wrong here, too. Your sentence is not the least bit confusing without the word “literal”, therefore don’t use it.
