There are no auto bids.
It's currently the top 6 ranked conference champions and 6 at large, likely to soon become the top 5 ranked champions and 7 at large.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just change it to the top 12 ranked teams. I know that's what Sanky was angling for initially, but with the demise of the Pac-12 and the top end of the Big 12 I could see it becoming a reality.
