I’ve done Christmas there a few times, last year included. When you say a nicer hotel, a price range would be helpful. Because a nicer hotel can be the Park Plaza - but enjoy the $800-1000/night cost.

We stayed in Soho last year at the Soho Grand Hotel and really enjoyed it. So that would be my recommendation.

For a nice Italian spot, look into Rezdora. It’s a 1 Michelin star place where the EC studied in Modena under Massimo Bottura.

I'm thinking setting the ceiling at $600.00/night.

I'll check out Rezdora. Thanks. And to clarify, what I'm really looking for (and not just limited to restaurants, but also cafes, coffee shops, pubs, bars, etc.) is nice, warm, cozy, intimate spots...think of the movie "Serendipity" or something from a Hallmark Christmas movie as I'm trying to please the wife here, and not haul her to a sports bar.

Good hotel bars would also be nice.

All of the hotels in Manhattan are super expensive pretty much all year round. When my family visited NYC, we had to stay across the state line in NJ because of how fricking expensive all of the hotels are there. A fricking Hampton Inn in Manhattan went for no less than $400 a night, and that was in early spring when it wasn’t tourist season
