His 40 time is irrelevant, because that is affected by how explosive and clean his start is.
What IS relevant is that he outran a starting SEC DB who had an angle on him, the length of the football field.
In looking, that's #14, freshman safety Jordan Castell. Dude was a 4 star, who some services are saying will be a Freshman All American. So he's not a pure speed guy, but you'd think he could still haul down a QB if given 80 yds to do so.
If you watch the run LINK, Castell lines up at deep safety, 15 yds off the ball.
He takes 1 step to his left, then 2-3 strides running flat at the 28 yd line while Jayden approaches the line of scrimmage. He's dead right there
As Daniels hits the 20 on the numbers, Castell is still flat at the 29, at the hashmarks
As Daniels is about at the 23 (about to lose the nearest defender to Nabers' great block), Castell starts turning to give ground, approaching the 30. Too late. BTW I don't know why 23 falls down, he might have caught him
This is interesting... Daniels at the 30. If he were a normal QB, 14 (Castell) catches him at around the 35, and 8(?) gets him around midfield.
Meanwhile, we see Lacy (2) murder 23 again.

Continued...
here Daniels it at the 35 and about to make the jump to lightspeed. Castell has just passed the 36 but is still inside the numbers. 8 or 9, not sure who, is trying to get deep, but still just at the 41. Lacy continues to kill that poor dude
Daniels passes Castell by the 40. 8/9 is at the 45, but still in the center of the field. Lacy continues his UFC audition on that poor Gator
Daniels beats Castell to the 50, 8 is only 2 yds deeper but still almost in the middle of the field, and Lacy decides to let his victim live.
This is an impressive image... Daniels not only has 2 strides on Castell, he looks back at him as he crosses the 40. 8 still thinks he can make a play, while at the bottom of the screen Lacy tells his new Gator bitch "that dude's fast"
Last upload (ESPN fades to another angle after this), Jayden has now caught up with #8 and actually turns towards him, I think fricking with him. Lacy continues to enjoy the moment
