This is a problem. People need to be able to articulate their argument. Most cannot.

When you read the letters that civil war soldiers, who were just laborers or farmers, sent to their wives you realize how much more educated they actually were back then than we are now. They could express thoughts and feelings much better than 99.9% of todays population.
