I did home inspections in Albuquerque for a couple of years. I Inspected a home built in the 1950s, a couple lived there from when it was built to their death. It was a well maintained time capsule.

Long story short, all appliances were original to the home, and they all worked perfectly. It was weird writing that report up.

we just had a similar experience. Put a contract on a house where the woman had lived there since 1978 and while dated as shite, the trash compactor, dishwasher, fridge, jenair cooktop and wall oven were all immaculate and in perfect working order.

Makes me question our desire to renovate the kitchen right away.

Same for my house when I bought it. Built in the early 1950's and the oven and cooktop were built by General Motors. Found a mid-century Westinghouse roaster oven in the attic, built like a tank and still works to this day.
