They are everywhere near my house in west Houston. I’ve probably my seen 5 or 6 this year. I have seen more if them than moccasins and we live on a small bayou.

We killed 4 of these between me and my immediate neighbors to our left and right within the first 2 years of living in SW Houston/Missouri City. Killed them all because all of our kids were really young at the time and wanted to eliminate the risk of them grabbing the pretty snake. I also had one crawl over my boot while bow hunting in a ground blind just south of Bay City, TX. That was startling. I just happened to look down at my phone to check football scores and saw movement below. All I had were arrows with rage broadheads so I just let him be and he slithered right on out.

Saw one last year in front yard, here in SE Texas. Saw a HUGE one crossing the street in the neighborhood also.
