Is the spelling in Monsignor Jules Daigle's authoritative Dictionary of the Cajun Language.
But he also says that since it developed primarily as a spoken language, there is no authentic precedent for the spelling of most Cajun words.

Do you list a phrase for "i feel sorry for you"? or something to that effect. We used to say something like "a fid la pan". Maybe someone else here will know what I'm talking about.
